About this Practice

Legs Up the Wall — among the most therapeutic postures in yoga. Reverses venous blood flow, deeply relaxes the nervous system, and relieves tired legs. Accessible to virtually everyone.

How to Practise

  1. 1

    Sit sideways with one hip against the wall.

  2. 2

    Swing legs up as you lie back. Sit bones close to the wall.

  3. 3

    Arms wide at sides, palms up.

  4. 4

    Close eyes. Breathe slowly.

  5. 5

    Remain 5–15 minutes.

⚠️ Cautions & Contraindications

Glaucoma. Serious neck or back problems. Menstruation (some teachers advise caution).
