About this Practice

Chair Pose — a deep squat position that builds heat, strengthens the lower body, and stimulates the heart. The sustained demand on the quadriceps and glutes makes this an efficient posture for weight management.

How to Practise

  1. 1

Stand in Tadasana. Bend the knees and lower the hips as if sitting on a chair.

  2. 2

Keep the knees together or hip-width, not splaying outward.

  3. 3

Raise arms overhead, biceps near ears.

  4. 4

Keep the chest lifted; avoid collapsing into the lower back.

  5. 5

Hold 30 seconds to 1 minute.
