About this Practice
The sun-activating breath. Inhalation exclusively through the right (solar/Pingala) nostril activates the sympathetic nervous system, increasing energy, warmth, and digestive fire. The antidote to lethargy and sluggish digestion.
How to Practise
- 1
Sit comfortably. Close the left nostril with the ring finger of the right hand.
- 2
Inhale slowly and fully through the right nostril only.
- 3
Close both nostrils briefly.
- 4
Release the ring finger; close the right nostril with the thumb. Exhale left.
- 5
Continue: always inhale right, exhale left.
- 6
Practise 10–20 rounds. Do not practise in hot weather or when agitated.
