About this Practice

Lotus Pose — the classical meditation posture. When the hips are sufficiently open, Padmasana provides the most stable and upright seated position for extended pranayama and meditation practice.

How to Practise

  1. 1

    Sit in Sukhasana first.

  2. 2

    Bring the right foot high onto the left thigh.

  3. 3

    Bring the left foot onto the right thigh.

  4. 4

    Both soles face upward. Sit tall.

  5. 5

    Only practise when hips are sufficiently open — never force the knees.

⚠️ Cautions & Contraindications

Knee injury. Hip injury. Do not force — can take months or years to achieve safely.
