Beginner

About this Practice

Nasal irrigation with warm saline water using a neti pot. Jala Neti cleanses the entire nasal passage, sinuses, and Eustachian tubes. It is one of the oldest hygiene practices in the yogic system and is now validated by ENT medicine for managing sinusitis and allergic rhinitis.

How to Practise

  1. 1

Prepare warm saline water (the salinity of tears — ~1 tsp salt per 500ml).

  2. 2

Tilt the head to one side over a sink.

  3. 3

Insert the neti pot spout into the upper nostril.

  4. 4

Breathe through the mouth as water flows through the nasal passage and out the lower nostril.

  5. 5

After completion, blow out both nostrils thoroughly.

  6. 6

Practise daily in the morning on an empty stomach.
